Planning a wedding is a memorable and fun experience, but above all the celebration is about one thing: love. The nonprofit Wish Upon a Wedding was created based off of that important pillar.
The charity helps couples that want to celebrate their love—through a wedding or a vow renewal—but face terminal illnesses or life-altering circumstances. Wish Upon a Wedding provides couples a day of hope, where they can celebrate with family and friends cost-free. "Our intent is that chosen recipients will inspire other couples facing similar situations to find a renewed hope and inner strength," the charity explained.
According to the charity, the average wish costs is around $2,000, so many chapters around the country throw events to raise money. On February 27th, the New York chapter hosted their annual gala, themed Le Noir et Blanc Gala, and celebrated the charity's 105th wish granted.
Over 300 people attended the event, hosted by the Park Hyatt Hotel. 20 silent auction partners donated various items for attendees to bid on, from Yankees tickets to a Puerto Rico getaway.
