Growing up, Regan spent school vacations at her father's Texas hotel and restaurant, The Inn at Dos Brisas, hanging out with the horses. One summer after college, she found herself playing in a lacrosse tournament on a team sponsored by the venue and aptly called "Dos Brisas Lacrosse." It was there where she was introduced to Colin by a friend. They hit it off and stayed in touch—with Regan visiting Colin back in New York City a few weeks later. The rest was history.

Years later, the D.C.-based duo was engaged and had a symbolic venue in mind for their destination fête. On October 15, 2016, the couple wed at The Inn at Dos Brisas with 145 guests in attendance. As for the wedding's theme, "we wanted to marry the Tex Mex ranch vibe with the spirit of 'California Dreaming,'" says planner Julie Savage Parekh of Strawberry Milk Events and Styling. It was a warm autumn day in Texas and a full harvest moon rose right after the ceremony. And to top it off, that winning lacrosse team from back in the day reunited on the dance floor.

The Invitations

Brown Fox Calligraphy created this romantic, modern invitation suite in the wedding's white, peach, lavender, and gray color scheme. The pattern on the rugs that would line the aisle of the ceremony inspired the backer of the invite card. The mod and geometric touches gave the patterns a clean contrast and contributed to the hip, boho luxe vibe.

The Welcome Bags

Monogrammed canvas bags were filled with the couple's favorite local beer, an antler bottle opener, and customized koozies. Guests munched on Buc-ee's Beaver Nuggets (one of Regan and Colin's favorite road trip snacks), tortilla chips, and gourmet marshmallows. Hand-painted cookies by Lovely Little Things looked like dreamcatchers and flower-wearing longhorns. All of the goodies reinforced the feeling of a weekend festival or camp, and the tote also gave guests something to carry their bathing suits or boots in on Saturday during the activities.

The Fashions

The groom wore a blue J.Crew suit and shirt and a tie and pocket square from The Tie Bar. Regan's Mira Zwillinger gown was the first dress she tried on. The satin straps in the back and the way the light shone through the soft tulle of the skirt really caught her eye.

"Part of me wanted to be bridal and wear 'real' heels but, let's be honest, I hate wearing heels," says Regan of her choice to wear studded Christian Louboutin flatforms instead.

One Amazing Arch

"We were trying to keep it bohemian and natural but greenery doesn't really pop in an outdoor ceremony in a green field with green trees in the background," planner and designer Julie Savage Parekh of Strawberry Milk Events says of the ceremony arch. So pampas grass covered the structure, which was topped with groupings of flowers.

Guests looked on as Regan's dad walked her down the aisle to the sounds of the Dallas String Quartet playing Beyoncé's "Halo," which resounded across the meadow. The bride describes walking down the aisle as her favorite wedding memory. "I had to fight back ugly tears when I was walking towards Colin, because it was just so moving to finally be in this moment together," says Regan. "We had already done our first look, so I guess I didn't expect it to hit me as hard as it did. But the whole world just slowed down and I got really emotional."

The Ceremony

Regan and Colin worked with their officiant Jennifer Luu to craft a personal story by answering questions individually. During the ceremony, "she basically told us, and our guests, the story of our relationship, how we fit together, and what made our love special," says Regan.

Rugs in the wedding's color scheme and pattern of the celebration lined the aisle, which was dotted with more pampas grass. During the recessional, "we chose to have our guests throw lavender seeds, in the hope that when we return to that spot, wildflowers will be growing where we walked down the aisle," says Regan. After the recessional was Colin's favorite part of the day, when he and his newly-minted wife had the opportunity to pause and share a quiet moment as a married couple.

Bows and Arrows constructed floral chandeliers and pampas grass halos that hung in the sailcloth tent positioned with views of the pastures and horses grazing nearby. Custom white-washed floors kept the space airy too.

The Tables

Strawberry Milk Events & Styling designed the head table to include flower arrangements with pampas grass by Bows and Arrows and a mix of candles set in vessels made of glass, stone, and marble. Textured linens and plates, gold flatware, and gray napkins completed the look. Instead of a seated dinner, various food stations were set around the tent, including a raw bar, and a selection of entrees, such as herb-brined heritage pork loin with grain mustard sauce and baked spaghetti squash Provencal, and salt-baked Gulf of Mexico wahoo with sauce vierge and Dos Brisas Farm ratatouille.
