Adele spent most of her Album of the Year acceptance speech at the 59th annual Grammy Awards praising Beyoncé, but the Hello singer also let something personal slip: The superstar confirmed she and her longtime love Simon Konecki are indeed married after referring to Konecki as her "husband."
We're not completely shocked by the news, though. Rumors swirled during the holidays that the two parents to four-year-old Angelo secretly tied the knot after Adele was spotted wearing a gold band on that finger. This is, though, the first time the songstress has addressed it, and what a way to do so!
As a whole, the evening was an emotional one for Adele. The show opened with a powerful performance of "Hello," later followed by a tribute to friend George Michael. Adele was so swept away by the gravity of the moment that she actually cursed on live television (in very Adele fashion) and asked her band to start over. "I know it's live TV, I'm sorry," she said. "I can't do it again like last year. I'm sorry for swearing and I'm sorry for starting again. Can we please start it again? I can't mess this up for him."
Then the awards came rolling in (the deep?). First it was Song of the Year, and Adele spoke of her son. Then came Record of the Year, when Adele won once again for "Hello," and thanked her manager for masterminding her "comeback," also giving props to Queen Bey, telling her she is her idol and that "and I want you to be my mummy, alright?"
Last but not least, immediately after winning Record of the Year, Adele was barely off stage when they announced her Album of the Year win. In her acceptance speech she discussed her struggles with motherhood and then bowed down to Queen Bey for Lemonade, dedicating the award to her. "Five years ago when I was last here, I also was pregnant and didn't know. And I was awarded that shortly after, which was the biggest blessing of my life," Adele emotionally said. "And through my pregnancy and becoming a mother, I lost a lot of myself, and I struggled, I still struggle. You struggle being a mom; it's really hard. Tonight, winning this kind of feels full circle, and like a bit of me has come back to myself." After that, though, she gave props to her now-confirmed husband. "My manager, my husband, my son, you're the only reason I do it."
Now if only she'd release some photos or details from the day ... maybe the next album?
