Congrats are in order! This past weekend, actress Margot Robbie married film director Tom Ackerley, Daily Mail reports. The two reportedly married in a secret Byron Bay location on the Gold Coast in Australia, which is close to Robbie's hometown of Dalby.
And if you didn't know that Robbie was engaged—don't worry, they were super-secret about that as well. The two got engaged earlier this year, and have been planning to get married in Robbie's homeland. "The Gold Coast was somewhere she always wanted to get married, given it's where she was raised as a kid on her grandparents' farm," an insider told Woman's Day. "Tom initially wanted to get married in the UK, but he knows how much it means to Margot to tie the knot on home soil and how special it is for her, so he didn't put up much of a fight."
Robbie and Ackerley chose to get married around the holidays to make it easier on their families. "They decided to marry around Christmas so they could spend time with both their families afterwards, which they've never done before," the insider said.
Her mom, Sarie, and her brothers, Lachlan and Cameron, allegedly walked Robbie down the aisle. Her sister, Anya, was the maid of honor. Robbie posted an Instagram of her drinking a purple gin and tonic, the same drink that was seen in a picture that her brother was tagged in. So, we're thinking the family celebrated all weekend long.
Robbie met Ackerley in 2013 on the set of a World War II film, Suite Française, and they have been dating ever since. Earlier this year, Robbie revealed on the Australian television show The Project that her heart will always be with Australia, and how she plans to have a family there, which Ackerley doesn't mind. "He loves Australia," She said. "He's like 'I don't know why anyone leaves Australia!'" Congrats to the newlyweds!
