President Obama Never Doubted That Michelle Would Wow in the White House
The first lady wore wedding white for her third Vogue cover.
As the time the Obamas have in the White House dwindles down, we've been growing more and more nostalgic about their legacy. The president and first lady have warmed our hearts since they arrived, in part because of their remarkable bond as a couple.
Michelle Obama just slayed her third Vogue cover, discussing what's next after the White House in an elegant white Carolina Herrera gown. And while the dress itself is notable in the wedding world (please, someone, wear that for your celebration), equally notable was her husband's praise for her.
Reflecting on his wife's position as first lady, Barack reminded us that she never asked for the responsibility. "Like a lot of political spouses, the role was thrust upon her. But I always knew she'd be incredible at it, and put her own unique stamp on the job."
"That's because who you see is who she is-the brilliant, funny, generous woman who, for whatever reason, agreed to marry me," he shared. "I think people gravitate to her because they see themselves in her-a dedicated mom, a good friend, and someone who's not afraid to poke a little fun at herself from time to time."
Talk about love and support! Michelle and Barack Obama, you'll truly be missed come January. But rest assured, the former FLOTUS will remain active in public service.
"I will take the same approach leaving as I did coming in," Michelle said. "I won't know until I'm there. I've never been the former First Lady of the United States of America before. But I will always be engaged in some way in public service and public life."
