Earlier this week, reports surfaced that Michael Phelps and Nicole Johnson were already married! Instead of having a wedding following the Rio Olympics, like the couple initially revealed, the pair married in a super-secret wedding on June 13. But with no official confirmation, we didn't know what to believe. Yesterday, though, Phelps confirmed the news!
Phelps was broadcasting a Facebook Live during a golf outing when he discussed his marriage. "I've been married for a while," he said. "I've been married for a while, a couple of months. I had to keep it a secret from y'all, I had to keep it hush-hush from you guys. But Nicole and I are married, we're officially married."
The retired swimmer has clearly been enjoying his free time, and said that now he and Johnson are getting the chance to just hang out and be with each other. Makes sense, as Phelps had a very busy summer winning six gold medals.
When fans commented on his Live to ask why he decided to keep it from the public, Phelps replied "just because." He also mentioned that 5-month-old Boomer may be a big brother sooner than we expected. "Baby number two may be coming soon," Phelps said. "Who knows, though?"
Phelps and Johnson got married in Paradise Valley, Arizona, and had longtime friend and agent Peter Carlisle officiate the wedding. Now that it's official: Congrats to the newlyweds!
