Michael Phelps and Nicole Johnson have had a busy summer: First, Boomer Phelps was born in May, and then Phelps crushed the summer Olympics in Rio by taking home six gold medals. Now, some sources are adding a wedding on June 13th to that list!
E! News reports that the pair secretly got married four months ago in a private summer wedding in Maricopa County, Arizona. TMZ originally broke the news. According to the news outlet, the couple received their marriage license on June 9, and an image of the marriage record, dated June 13th, lists Phelps' longtime friend, agent Peter Carlisle, as the officiant.
How Michael Phelps's Mom Always Knew Fiancée Nicole Johnson Was "The One"
Adding to the speculation, an Instagram photo posted by Johnson on what would have been the wedding day reads, "Such a memorable night with my lil fambam boomer obviously didn't want to hold still."
However, in a Facebook Live last week, Phelps denied that he was already married, and Johnson continues to refer to Phelps as her "fiancé". Throughout the Olympics, Johnson was very open about their plans to get married following the games and even shut down rumors that they were already married after she was seen wearing a gold band.
"It'll be small and intimate for the wedding, and then we're throwing a massive bash for everyone in the states," Johnson told Access Hollywood in August. Since then, Johnson has revealed that Julie Vino will design her wedding dress—a sign that suggests she has yet to walk down the aisle.
So, we're left to wonder if this June 13th wedding was the real deal or not.
