Kaviar Gauche Fall 2017 Wedding Dress Collection
Kaviar Gauche co-founders Alexandra Fischer-Roehler and Johanna Kühl have been innovators from the start, having launched their label back in 2004 with a guerilla fashion show outside a Paris storefront. Beginning as a prêt-à-porter and red carpet retailer, the fashion brand broke into bridal just five years later with Kaviar Gauche Bridal Couture, when women began repurposing their gowns as wedding dresses. This unique origin is what makes the brand so distinctive—with ready-to-wear influences, the designers describe their dresses as "laissez faire," while red carpet roots lend a high-profile air. Based in Berlin and worn by the likes of Florence Welch and Rosie Huntington-Whitely, Kaviar Gauche has earned it's "modern glamour made in Germany" tagline, and it's bridal vein is where dreams come true. This year Fischer-Roehler and Kühl do it again, presenting a Fall 2017 collection of wedding dresses that are both understated and elegant. Ahead, a mix of modern and romantic wedding dresses that swap in straighter cuts without sacrificing fluent femininity. Notable label staples include flowing silhouettes and filigree lace, but as these gowns show, there's more than meets the eye. In fact, the looks can be best defined by the indefinable, a pleasant, elusive quality that the French call je ne sais quoi.
