White is the new black! Actress Samira Wiley, best known for playing fan-favorite prisoner Poussey Washington in Netflix's Orange is the New Black, is engaged to her girlfriend of two years, writer for the show Lauren Morelli.
Wiley shared an Instagram selfie with her new fiancée. In the shot, captioned simply, "Yes," the ladies look absolutely elated as Wiley brandishes a stunning princess-cut diamond engagement ring on a yellow gold band. Morelli posted the same picture, and Wiley also tweeted it, along with "I'll do anything with this one..."
Wiley and Morelli met while working on the series. In 2014, Morelli wrote an essay for Mic.com about realizing she was gay, divorced her husband, and started seeing Wiley. "I went through it all on set," Morelli penned at the time. "I fell in love with a woman, and I watched my life play out on screen ... It feels liberating and appropriate to live my life in front of you."
Ever since, the two have been seemingly inseparable, sharing sweet looks into their lives on Instagram.
"Love it when she whisks me away for a weekend," read an Instagram caption Wiley posted three days ago (perhaps this romantic getaway is where Morelli popped the question!). It seems Wiley is just as much of a romantic as her on-screen character! Congratulations to the happy couple.
