Move over, Mayor Bill de Blasio and Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg—there's a new high-profile government official granting wedding wishes! When White House staffers Brian Mosteller—director of Oval Office operations for President Barack Obama—and Joe Mahshie—trip coordinator for first lady Michelle Obama—were planning their wedding, they knew just the guy to perform the ceremony. Cue Vice President Joe Biden—a longtime proponent of marriage equality and a friend of the couple's.
Sweet Moments from Same-Sex Weddings
Saying yes to the request, Biden acquired a temporary certification from the District of Columbia just for the occasion, reports CNN. And if that isn't sweet enough, he hosted the wedding in the living room of his Washington D.C. home at the U.S. Naval Observatory. Biden presided over the intimate ceremony in front of just the grooms' families. Later, he took to Twitter to spread the joy. "Proud to marry Brian and Joe at my house," shared the VP. "Couldn't be happier, two longtime White House staffers, two great guys." His wife, Second Lady of the United States Dr. Jill Biden, echoed the sentiment, sharing the photo with the caption "Love is love!"
