It's no secret that it's been a bit of a rough week for Kelly Ripa. But in the midst of all the drama, "America's sweetheart"—as dubbed by Abbi Jacobson of Broad City—celebrated her 20th anniversary with husband Mark Consuelos with a romantic trip to the Caribbean. The former All My Children love-interests and long-time couple IRL looked like they were having fun in the sun and taking a well-deserved break from the public eye.
When Ripa returned to Live! with Kelly and Michael from vacation, she shared a cute story with her audience about a very important piece of clothing—her wedding dress! "I bought it at the Barney's Warehouse sale," Ripa explained on the show. "The dress is 25 years old. My marriage is 20 years old. I didn't buy it as a wedding dress. I just bought it because it was really pretty, and I wanted to buy something from the Barney's Warehouse sale … It was $199 on final clearance sale. 'Do I eat this week, or do I get this dress?' Literally this was the thought process."
Not many brides can claim they wear their wedding gown on the regular. "I swear to you, I wear it constantly," Ripa said. "It's a beach cover-up now. I wear it all the time. It was the best $199 I ever spent in my life."
Consuelos's wedding attire, however, did not withstand the same test of time, Ripa said: "It was like a white linen jacket with a black shawl collar," she explained. "He looked a little Travolta-y. In a good, sexy way, but in a very of-the-moment, of-the-time way."
If anyone can make a $199 wedding dress look timeless for 25 years, it's Kelly Ripa! #teamkelly
