Apple Chips

A small cluster of baked apple chips makes a lovely topper for the wedding cake.

  • Yield: Makes 12 to 16 slices

  • 1 red-skinned apple
  • Confectioners' sugar


  1. Preheat oven to 250 degrees. Line a baking sheet with a Silpat mat. Thinly slice apple crosswise on a mandoline. Cover a small plate with sugar; dip both sides of each slice in sugar. Place on Silpat mat. Bake about 1 hour 10 minutes (10 minutes more in some ovens). Apples should be slightly soft but not brown. Quickly remove from Silpat; let cool on a rack. Apples will become crisp as they cool.
