6 Unique Fall Wedding Color Schemes
Just because you're getting married during decorative gourd season doesn't mean your wedding has to scream "It's Fall, Y'all!" with shades of orange and brown. Here, find unexpected wedding color combinations from some of our favorite fall weddings.
Taupe, Lilac, Deep Plum, and Peach
This September destination wedding in Park City, Utah was rustic, romantic, and ethereal—with flowing fabrics and draping floral arrangements in taupe, lilac, deep plum, and peach that softened the barn location.

Purple Wedding Cake
In keeping with the seasonal palette, a pumpkin cake with cream cheese frosting was covered in plum-colored fondant and painted with golden leaf details.
Blue, Persimmon, and Gold
For their early November wedding in New York's Hudson Valley, Hanna and Jimm played off the surrounding fall foliage with similar shades of gold and persimmon with pops of blue as an accent.
Gold Wedding Dress
"Since it was likely to be the most extravagant dress I'd ever buy, I wasn't going to limit myself to only white," says Hanna. To complement her gold satin dress, Saipua created the bridal bouquet using a variety of mustard yellow, peach, and butter yellow roses, accented with a few bright leaves. Jimm wore a dark blue Donegal tweed custom suit and paired it with a blue gingham shirt for a style that he dubbed, "the country gentleman."

Pink, Yellow, Deep Red, Green, and Black
Erica and Jordy love the artist Henri Matisse and got inspired for their September wedding color palette, décor, and stationery by his famous snow flower paper cutouts. "Bright but equally grounded, we loved how the cutouts were based on an organic landscape and gave us room to play with color," says Erica.
Fall Wedding Invitations
Pilgrim Design, using the Matisse-inspired colors and shapes, created the rectangular invite for Erica and Jordy's wedding.
Deep Red Bridesmaid Dresses
Colorful Escort Cards
Brightly colored escort cards adorned with Matisse-inspired snow flowers hung in a walkway between two trees with clothespins at Erica and Jordy's wedding. The bride's friend, Amy, a textile designer, hand-stamped each one.
Cream, Maroon, and Gold
Alix and Bill turned to their venue—the Milwaukee Athletic Club—for color inspiration for their October wedding. Built in 1917, the stone building has a stunning ballroom, complete with crystal chandeliers and a hand-painted ceiling in shades of maroon, cream, with 24-karat gold detailing.

Fall Wedding Centerpiece
Dinnerplate dahlias (the day's signature bloom), ranunculus, roses, hellebores, and variegated hydrangea in shades of ruby red and soft pinks were arranged in gold pedestal vases and surrounded by gold mercury glass votive holders.
Velvet Flower Girl Crown
Bill's five-year-old niece wore a crown of millinery roses and leaves to fulfill her flower girl duties.
Green, Taupe, and Tan
"I love fall," says Sarah, a self-proclaimed "cold-weather person." And her early October wedding set out to celebrate autumn—subtly. "This wasn't going to be, 'It's Fall, Y'all!," says planner and designer Calder Clark, "with orange and brown and gourds." Instead, they worked within a range of greens, taupes, and tans inspired by the plaid of the Scottish clan Mackenzie (the groom's last name).
Green Plaid Invitations
The letterpressed invitation suite, by Cheree Berry Paper, featured acorns and pinecones and previewed the event's neutrals-and-green palette. Apple postage stamps kept up the autumnal theme.
Sage-Green Escort Cards
Paper antlers rose from the top of escort cards in a witty nod to the bucolic location in the mountains of North Carolina.
Antlers made an appearance on the head table, too—only this time they were real and accompanied by beeswax candles, glass votives, and a runner in a neutral-colored take on the Mackenzie plaid.
Dusty Pink and Deep Red
For their intimate wedding in a restored 1906 stone restaurant and event space in Seattle, Jessica and Kirk chose a warm palette of dusty pink and deep red with rustic wooden accents.
A wreath of pink roses, coral celosia, ornamental peppers, and gray-toned foliage matched the warm palette of the fall wedding.
Fall Wedding Favors
Guests took home wooden baskets filled with orange-currant scones and jars of Bonne Maman jam, which fit the color palette perfectly.
Wooden farm tables, dusty pink runners, and cream-colored tapers set the rustic scene at dinner, where guests feasted on a family-style meal of beet salad, steamed halibut, and roast chicken.
