How to Write a Gracious Bridal Shower Thank-You Card
Sitting down to whittle away at a mountain of thank-you notes after a bridal shower can leave even the most levelheaded feeling overwhelmed. But it’s nothing to stress over! Keeping a few guidelines in mind and following the same basic format means less time crafting correspondence and more time using that awesome new mixer that Aunt Judy gave you.
Tackle First Things First
Before you put pen to paper—or before you even start opening gifts at your shower—designate someone to keep track of what everyone gives you. This will usually be the purview of your maid of honor, but anyone can take on this easy task. Of course, some gifts might arrive in the mail, courtesy of guests who weren’t able to attend the shower; as soon as they’re delivered to your doorstep, add the name of the giver to the master list from your shower.
Thank Them for Their Presence
If the old adage is to be believed, time is money. Begin by thanking guests for theirs in one simple sentence: Thank you for the time you took to attend my shower—it really means a lot to me. If, on the other hand, you’re recognizing a gift that came in the mail (and the person giving it did so from afar), tweak the sentiment slightly: I was sorry not to see you at my bridal shower. But I did get your gift in the mail, and I couldn’t be more grateful.

Thank Them for Their Presents
Next, specifically mention the gift and how you plan to use it. You could say something like, I was so excited when I opened your gift and saw that it was a new coffeemaker. As java junkies, Chris and I will get a ton of use out of it! If someone gave you cash in lieu of buying an item off your registry, you can still be specific: Thank you so much for the generous cash gift. It will be put to good use as Joel and I furnish our new home.
Wrap up by expressing your excitement about seeing them at the upcoming wedding by writing a sentence along the lines of We can’t wait to celebrate with you on August 1st! Sign off with a simple Love, Jenny or All the best, Sharon.
