Veronica and Mathieu’s Low-Key Rehearsal Dinner on a Mexican Farm
To welcome all 64 of their loved ones to Mexico and kick off their wedding weekend, Veronica and Mathieu worked with event designer Matthew Robbins to create a memorable (and colorful) evening at Flora Farms in San Jose del Cabo. The low-key event celebrated the locally-grown food and lush surroundings.
“The setting is truly magical,” Robbins says of Flora Farms. “It’s so different from the other areas of Cabo that focus more on ocean views.”
During cocktail hour, tasty bites—like these heirloom tomato and ricotta bruschetta—were served.
Colorful specialty drinks—served in Mason jars—included carrot margaritas.
Lanterns lined the pathway down to the grove (and back, for when guests exited at the conclusion of the night).
A Fruitful Display
Since the venue is a fruit farm, it was fitting that the escort cards honor that. Papier-mâché mangos with paper leaves boasted guests’ names and seating assignments.
Color was celebrated in the evening’s décor, with centerpieces of hydrangea, peonies, roses, ranunculus, and dusty miller dotting the long tables. Amber-colored taper candles and aqua mercury-glass votives added to the spectrum and brought a glow as the sun set.
The Place Settings
The finishing touch at each seat was a mango leaf with each guest’s name written on it in gold ink.
A handwritten menu (complete with mango illustrations) outlined the evening’s fare.
Dinner at Dusk
The family-style feast included roasted beef carpaccio with fromage blanc, a seasonal salad, wood-oven-roasted chicken, chilled potatoes with aioli and salsa verde, and a selection of five desserts.
“We wanted it to be very intimate and convivial,” Veronica says. “The long tables were perfect for everyone to get to know each other. It was a down-to-earth evening and felt like an amazing dinner party.”
A Favorite Moment
The speeches, which were witty and heartfelt, were the couple’s favorite moment of the night.
