Bridal Beauty Diaries: Lauren – Creating Our Wedding Website

One of the tasks on my “wedding to-do” list is to build a wedding website. The main reason my fiancé, Tony, and I decided to have one is because many of our guests are from out of town or out of state. I wanted there to be a central location for everyone to gather any information they may want or need regarding the wedding. There was a bit of a time crunch for us in creating it since we wanted to include a link on our save-the-dates. The hardest part about building it for me was finding a template/background that we both liked. Once that was settled, it was actually pretty fun from there.

Our wedding website includes a homepage with a countdown to the big day, the story of how we met, a rundown of everyone in the wedding party, a couple of photo galleries, all of the wedding day details (time, place, directions, dress), recommended hotels nearby, local areas of interest, a guestbook, a “contact us” feature, and a link to our registry. I also added pictures on each page. At this point, we had already taken our engagement photos, so I mostly used those pictures.

Besides having a central location of wedding information for our guests, we also liked the idea of having a wedding website so that both of our extended families could get to know us, our wedding party, and the local area a little better. Since we live in Central Florida, minutes away from a whole slew of attractions, we thought many of our guests may want to turn their trip into a mini-vacation—especially since they would be coming down from up north during January!

Under the “photo galleries” section, I added a picture for each year Tony and I have been together – that’s seven years total! It was pretty crazy looking back at the evolution of our relationship from when we first got together until now. Sometimes I forget how long we have been a couple. With the exception of slightly different hair styles, we both pretty much look the same. As I was uploading the different pictures, I couldn’t help but think how my smile will look different about six months from now. Something that has been a part of my identity for so long will forever be changed. I’m excited and nervous all at the same time. Some of the wedding guests know that I am undergoing Invisalign treatment and some don’t. I look forward to seeing whether or not they will notice my new smile at the wedding.

Disclosure: I have received complimentary treatment from Invisalign in exchange for blogging about my bridal journey and treatment, and all opinions expressed are my own.
