Crystal and Adam, The Happy Couple
Driven by mutual spontaneity and a desire to travel overseas for volunteer work, Crystal Scott and Adam Boysen quit their jobs and headed to Ottawa, Ontario, for an orientation session prior to being displaced in Cambodia and Uganda, respectively. Their bond was instant and, despite having to part ways shortly after meeting, they kept in touch. "Fast forward three months and countless emails and Skype dates later," says Crystal. "We finally decided we couldn't wait another nine months to see each other again so we planned our first date—a ten day trip in India! We knew this was either going to be the beginning of something amazing or the longest first date in history! Luckily for us, it was the former and now we're Mr. and Mrs.!"
The Rustic Invitation
The invitation, a harbinger of the rehearsal dinner's rustic decor, was hand-stamped on veneer, a material used throughout the celebration.
A Winter Wonderland
After dating for three years, Crystal and Adam decided to kick off their wedding weekend with a mountainside rehearsal dinner at Devil's Thumb Ranch in Tabernash, Colorado, on January 3, 2013. "We lived in Seattle and planned a winter destination in the Colorado mountains," Crystal says. "Then, we fell in love with Colorado while planning our wedding and moved there a few months later!"
The Timber House
The dinner was held at the Timber House, an intimate venue with wraparound glass windows offering a 360-degree view of the snow-covered Rocky Mountains.
Bucolic Beauty
Crystal, founder of Bespoke Style Studio, created a relaxed, rural setting by including natural elements such as wood veneer plates and white votive candles. The pastoral centerpieces, designed by Love This Day Events, anchored the décor with arrangements of hydrangeas, brunia gray balls, and dusty miller.
Rustic Interior
Crystal and Adam knew they wanted the aesthetic of their wedding weekend to highlight the natural surroundings. The bride-to-be filled an old wooden crate with hydrangeas and candles to complement the venue's interior.
Dining Decor
Light flooded the rows of dining tables, illuminating the white hydrangea.
Notes of Gratitude
Cheer Up Cherub, a letterpress studio, crafted this custom thank you note that the couple placed on each table setting.
Local Cuisine
Keeping in mind that their weekend was a destination wedding for many of their guests, the duo treated friends and family to authentic Colorado comfort food. The menu included tequila and ancho chile marinated baby back ribs, smoked wild game sausages, smoked ham hocks, cheddar and jalapeño spoon bread, and several other mouthwatering dishes.
Love Is In The Air
Surrounded by jubilant friends and family, Crystal and Adam shared a romantic kiss amidst the warm glow of a candlelit dinner.
