Celebrities Who've Doubled as Wedding Guests
It's hard to imagine our favorite A-listers outside of their on-screen roles or music videos. But, as it turns out, celebrities are friends, siblings, and parents, too—meaning wedding invitations can fall into some pretty notable hands. And while the bride and groom are always the stars of their big day, at these weddings, some of their guests were stand-outs, too.
Believe it or not, celebrities show up at weddings more often than you'd think—weddings are major life events, after all. That's why we've gone ahead and rounded up all of the actors, musicians, and even a few reality television stars who've all attended their friends' and family's nuptials over the last few years. As you're about to see, so many of these VIPs go beyond guest-level. They've held all kinds of important roles, from best men and maids of honor, to bridesmaids and groomsman—and we can't forget the celebrity officiants, either! While all of these A-listers' wedding involvements differ, there's one thing they all have in common: celeb status.
All of the names on this list have major name recognition. You'll go inside all of the celebrations every star from Beyoncé and Kim Kardashian to Oprah and George and Amal Clooney recently attended. Though we loved how our favorite stars consistently showed up to support each other, we were particularly excited by the guest lists of two key major 2018 celebrity weddings: the unions of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle (which is where David and Victoria Beckham, seen here, stepped out!) and Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank. Five months after promising she'd "shut down" the dance floor at Bob Saget and Kelly Rizzo's wedding, the former Full House star followed through. She attended the happy couple's Santa Monica celebration with a slew of other castmates, including Jodie Sweetin and Andrea Barber, photographed here.
Goulding's close relationship to Princess Eugenie earned her a royal wedding invite. Surprisingly, however, her now-fiancé, Caspar Jopling, sat this one out. Both he and Goulding have reportedly vacationed with Eugenie and Brooksbank.
Naomi Campbell was one of the first few celebrity wedding guests to arrive at Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank's Windsor Castle ceremony in October 2018. She donned traditional English wedding attire for the occasion—with a supermodel twist, of course. Her metallic dress, feather-adorned shrug, and statement-hat were stand-outs.
Another longtime friend of Princess Eugenie, Cara Delevingne reportedly called the royal bride-to-be ahead of the big day to ask if breaking the dress code was allowed—the model opted for standard British wedding attire for men, called morning dress, as opposed to the dress-and-hat ensemble for women.
Christina Hendricks did more than just attend Beth Behrs and Michael Gladis' wedding in the Rocky Mountains—she acted as groomswoman for the former Mad Men star.
Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams
Game of Thrones co-stars and real-life best friends Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams stepped out for fellow castmates Kit Harington and Rose Leslie's nuptials at Kirkton of Rayne church in Scotland. The duo later attended the newlyweds' reception, which was held at the actress' home estate.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's royal wedding drew all kinds of high-profile celebrities, including Oprah, herself (who's as close to royalty as America gets!). The philanthropist and media mogul wore Stella McCartney for the Windsor Castle ceremony and luncheon. Coincidentally, Markle changed into a halter-neck number by the same designer for the evening portion of the festivities.
George and Amal Clooney
It wasn't at all surprising that both George and Amal Clooney were invited to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's nuptials. Mrs. Clooney, a fellow U.K. resident, is credited with introducing Markle to London and has been a longtime friend of the former actress. She and her actor husband were invited to all parts of the celebration (a high honor!)—Mr. Clooney reportedly served tequila shots and had a special dance with both the bride and her new sister-in-law, Kate Middleton.
Serena Williams and Alexis Ohanian
The champion tennis player is a dear friend of Meghan Markle and demonstrated that bond by attending her nuptials—despite the fact that the 2018 French Open, the athlete's first major competition post-baby, fell over the very same weekend. Williams brought along her husband, Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, as her plus-one.
Priyanka Chopra and Abigail Spencer
Former Quantico star Priyanka Chopra and Suits actress Abigail Spencer both stepped out for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's May wedding. It's possible that Markle will return the favor at Chopra's upcoming wedding to Nick Jonas.
The Mother! actress stepped out to attend Amy Schumer's California wedding in February 2018. The comedian married chef Chris Fischer in a surprise ceremony, complete with puppy ring bearers and blush-and-cream accents.
Jake Gyllenhaal was also a witness at Schumer and Fischer's wedding. Here, he posed ocean-side with fellow attendees to commemorate the occasion.
Pretty Little Liars actress Lucy Hale attended her co-star Troian Bellisario's rustic wedding to actor Patrick J. Adams.
Kim Kardashian, Kelly Rowland, and Beyoncé
Hollywood A-listers Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland, and Kim Kardashion weren't the only celebrities witness their friends Serena Williams and Alexis Ohanian tie the knot in New Orleans in November 2017. According to Vogue, the star-studded guest list also included Ciara, LaLa Anthony, and Eva Longoria.
Co-star Ashley Benson also attended Troian Bellisario and Patrick J. Adams's nupitals. In another photo the actress shared of the newlyweds, Benson captioned it, "My sweet sister. I love you. You had me in tears tonight. Congratulations @sleepinthegardn @halfadams."
Nick and Joe Jonas
Over Thanksgiving weekend 2016, brothers Nick and Joe Jonas attended a friend's wedding in Malibu and shared an image of "the bros." And don't worry—they took a lot of fun photobooth pictures.
Ryan Seacrest was one of the 'maids (well, man of honor to be exact) at his sister Meredith's Mexico celebration. The TV personality captioned this photo of the bridal party "trying to fit in ... final countdown!"
Model Ashley Graham attended her sister's wedding in Colorado in the most laid back and chic wedding attire we've ever seen! Graham rocked leather pants, a black bodysuit and a black fur jacket with a high ponytail for her sister's big day.
Monica Raymund, Marina Squerciati, and Sophia Bush
Actors Monica Raymund, Marina Squerciati, and Sophia Bush attended their Chicago Fire co-star Joe Minoso's wedding to Caitlin Murphy Miles. Bush shared this photo, in which she wears a gorgeous fringed burgundy Marchesa gown and pearl headpiece, a fitting choice for the 1920s wedding theme.
Days after she gave birth to her second child, Blake Lively attended her best friend's wedding in New York City. She posted an Instagram of the bride, Jessica Snyder, which said, "Most beautiful bride on the planet. And the best friend I could ask for. @jessicarose617 thank you for being EVERYTHING. I love you."
Karlie Kloss, Poppy Delevingne, and Friends
Guests Karlie Kloss and Poppy Delevingne attended fashion blogger Colby Jordan's wedding to art collector Alberto "Tico" Mugrabi in late September 2016. The celebration, which took place over the weekend in Antibes, France, was a star-studded affair. Kloss brought along Princess Beatrice as her wedding date, and actress Sienna Miller celebrated with the happy couple while DJ and singer Mark Ronson was in charge of the DJ booth. Here, Kloss and Delevingne posed with friends, captioned "wedding crashers (and burners)." #squadgoals.
Model Heidi Klum and boyfriend Vito Schnabel also attended Colby Jordan and Alberto Mugrabi's big day and danced the night away at the celebration.
Funny-man Owen Wilson was one of Alberto Mugrabi's groomsmen for his wedding to Colby Jordan.
Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen
Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen also attended Colby Jackson and Alberto Mugrabi's nuptials.
Jessica Alba, Rachel Zoe, and More
Jessica Alba and fashion designer Rachel Zoe stunned at celebrity stylist Jamie Schneider's wedding to hedge fund manager Nico Mizrahi in April 2016. These two weren't the only famous attendees: Nicole Richie, Cameron Diaz, Benji Madden, Kate Hudson, Katy Perry, and Orlando Bloom came out to Aspen for the wedding festivities.
Lena Dunham served as a bridesmaid at her childhood friend Audrey Gelman's wedding to Genius.com founder Ilan Zechory. Gelman, an NYC PR guru, served as inspiration for Dunham's Girls character Marnie Michaels. With J.Crew Creative Director Jenna Lyons's blessing, Dunham and the other bridesmaids all customized their J.Crew skirts with rhinestones, sequins, patches, and floral appliqués, lending their own personalities to their looks.
Lea Michele and Nikki Reed
Glee alum and Scream Queens star Lea Michele and Sleepy Hollow actress Nikki Reed were all smiles at their friend Stephanie Herman's December 2015 wedding. "Dancing the night away," Michele captioned the photo, which she posted along with snapshots of her date (boyfriend Matthew Paetz) and a group of gal pals, following the celebration.
Lucky were the guests (like Martha Stewart, left) who were seated with comedian and actor Robin Williams at this wedding reception in Connecticut.
Actress Christina Hendricks, a friend of the bride's, embraced this wedding's picnicky dress code by wearing a Ralph Lauren suit jacket and a prairie skirt.
Kate and Andy Spade
Whitney's stylish aunt and uncle, designers Kate and Andy Spade, partied at her New Orleans wedding.
Zach Braff and Joshua Radin
Actor Zach Braff (left) and musician Joshua Radin (right) served as actor Donald Faison's groomsmen at his Los Angeles wedding.
Singer and designer Jessica Simpson (left) was a VIP in more than one way at CaCee Cobb and Donald Faison's Los Angeles wedding: she was maid of honor to the bride.
