Christy and Jason
After meeting up at a magazine-industry event in 2010, Jason Knell, who works for a media software company, and Christy Sheppard, an art director, dated for a year and a half without discussing marriage. But when one of Christy's friends got engaged, the new Yorkers picked up the pace. Jason "souped up" Christy's great- grandmother's antique ring setting by having the diamonds replace, then invited her over, where the ring -- and a bottle of dom Perignon -- awaited. The rest was history.
The Wedding Stationery
The duo decided to plan an intimate beach-inspired wedding in South Berwick, Maine. The Christy–designed stationery incorporated colors with significance: gold (for her engagement ring), blush (her wedding gown), and blue (Jason's favorite color). She scanned a retro postcard from York, Maine, a nearby coastal resort town where the bride's grandmother lived, and printed it with gold foil for the save-the-dates.
The Welcome Bags
Silk-screened totes held Cape Cod potato chips, water bottles, and a list of local must-sees for wedding guests coming in from out of town.
Bridal Party Bouquets
Christy, flanked by her 'maids, carried dahlias, peach stock, roses, and ranunculus.
The Bridal Gown
Of her Robert Bullock gown, Christy says, "I knew I didn't want stark white. This one was so original and subtle, everyone thought it was antique white, but it was a light pink with a soft white tulle overlay."
The Programs
"We spent a whole lot of time together crafting!" notes Christy of her and Jason's wedding prep, which included assembling their pink and gold programs.
The Ceremony
Christy and Jason exchanged vows at The Red Barn at Outlook Farm. The couple stopped for a smooch before walking up the aisle to a harpist's rendition of New Order's "Ceremony."
Puppy Love
The pair's furry friend posed with the couple before they joined their 100 guests for dinner and dancing.
The Reception
"I'm really into ombre," says Christy, who glitter-ized numerals in a graduating color scheme for the reception tables.
The Wedding Cake
The tiered vanilla cake, with fondant "ruffles," echoed the layers of tulle on Christy's ethereal wedding gown.
The Photo Guest Book
An instant camera and washi tape encouraged party-goers to get crafty when it came to leaving a message for the bride and groom in the guest book.
Candy Wedding Favors
Goldenrod Kisses saltwater taffies -- a local delicacy -- were bundled in blush cheesecloth for guests to enjoy as favors.
