A Glamorous White Wedding in a Loft in New York City
Lisa and Alex
Lisa Gant and Alex Pelling are so in love that they can't stop tying the knot. Hailing from the UK, the duo behind the blog 2 People 1 Life is on a mission to celebrate their bond and support a good cause -- their registry benefits UNICEF -- by getting hitched in every country they visit.
We were so inspired by their story that for their 26th (yes, you read that correctly) ceremony, we invited them to the Martha Stewart Weddings headquarters for a true NYC-inspired celebration.
Lisa's amazing lace dress designed by Monique Lhuillier was the perfect length for transitioning easily from ceremony to reception.
The Groom's Style
Our Famous Officiant
Martha did the honors of officiating Lisa and Alex's ceremony. When it came to attire for the evening, we broke wedding tradition and asked all our guests attending to wear white. Martha, of course, dressed accordingly.
A Sea of Wedding Guests
Around 1,200 fabulous party-goers and wedding industry legends helped us celebrate Lisa and Alex and the exciting start to New York Bridal Fashion Week, a series of runway shows debuting the season's hottest wedding dresses.
Martha kept her speech short and sweet; just imagine how anxious the crowd was to toast our happy duo!
(Unofficially) Husband and Wife
Here, Lisa and Alex seal the ceremony with a kiss. The couple plans to continue their celebrations all around the world before officially tying the knot back home in the UK.
The Wedding Song
Grammy Award-winning jazz vocalist Steve Tyrell serenaded the happy couple for their first dance to "Just The Way You Look Tonight". Tyrell sang in the "Father of the Bride" films and took over for Bobby Short at the Carlyle Hotel in New York. Of course, our lovebirds had to stay at the Carlyle on their wedding night too.
The Bouquet Toss
Matthew Robbins included the New York state flower (roses) in Lisa's bouquet that was wrapped with black and white checkered ribbon insipired by checkered cabs. The bride tossed her bundle at the end of the festivities, and the lucky gal who caught it won dinner for two at the classic New York restaurant Le Cirque.
Doing the Honors
Lisa and Alex were all smiles making the first slice into their sweet masterpiece.
Martha Stewart Weddings Editorial Director Darcy Miller smiled for the camera for a few shots with our happy couple. We featured Darcy's glamorous New York City wedding a few years back.
The Photo Booth
Lisa and Alex took a break to pose in front of our paper flower covered photo booth from Smile Booth with a few appropriate props.
Edible white Empire State Buildings for the bride and groom and taxis by Martine's Chocolates were the perfect party favor for this Big Apple wedding.
Other sweet surprises included black and white cookies in boxes inspired by a New York taxi cab from One Girl Cookies, and mini bourbon bottle favors by Cacao Prieto made in their local Brooklyn distillery.
