Throwing a Travel Shower
For a bride-to-be who is throwing a destination wedding, we've pulled together all of our favorite travel-themed ideas perfect for hosting a bridal shower.
If a bride-to-be loves to travel or is planning a destination wedding, have a themed party to put everyone in the mood for a getaway. Choose a location inspired by her honeymoon or wedding plans (for this tablescape we picked England), then infuse all the details with local flavor. If guests ask for gift suggestions, recommend luggage, journals, books, photo albums, film, and other travel-related items. To decorate, use a road map as a runner and scatter treats from the location across the table. For our British theme, we used chocolate-covered coins and English tea cakes.

Passport Invitations
These passport invitations are perfect for a travel shower. A bonus: Because they're folder-style, you can pack them with useful information about any themed gifts, where the bride-to-be is registered, and any other tips you want to pass on about the shower. Stationery suite by Spark Stationery.

Luggage Tag Seating Cards and Favors
These luggage tags can pull double duty both as seating cards and as favors guests can take home with them after the shower. Print labels with lines for name, address, and phone number onto card stock (use the insert that comes with the tags as a template). Calligraph guests' names. Slip tag and decorative paper backing into the plastic cover. Loop cording through hole at top, and hang on chairs. Calligraphy by Nancy Howell. -

Postcard Invitations
For a destination shower, invite guests with a postcard. Choose one that captures the spirit of the wedding or honeymoon location while providing plenty of space for important information. One of these colorful retro-inspired announcements is just the ticket. Cards by Lab Partners for Hello!Lucky.

The Menu
For our British-themed shower, we decided to give each guest a tea sandwich, a rose-petal cupcake, and an English institution -- an aromatic cup of well-steeped afternoon tea. With a little research, you could incorporate into your menu the foods of the location the bride-to-be is getting married or honeymooning.

Destination Seating Cards
This escort card display is clever and inexpensive. To create it, purchase a miniature cork-topped vial for every guest (steer clear of tapered necks, since they make note-removal difficult). Write the name on one side of a 2-by-3-inch piece of paper and the table number on the other. Roll up the paper and slide it into a bottle with the name facing outward, and cork it. Then fill a shallow glass dish with sand, and arrange the bottles so that the writing is visible. Lastly, scatter in small seashells. Note: For large events, use several dishes and organize by letter. Glass vials, VC4C, Specialty Bottle; low-glass cylinder, KF801100, Jamali Floral & Garden Supplies.

Thank-You Cards for the Bride
Make and give the bride these multilingual thank-you cards so she can express her gratitude to shower guests. These cards highlight the language of the place the wedding will be held; simply download our clip art, print it onto card stock, and cut out. Then circle the appropriate phrase for your destination, and write your own message on the back. A7 envelope in Desert Storm, Paper Presentation.
