For brides and grooms who grew up with strong ties to their culture, the steps to common ethnic dances may be second nature. On the other hand, if you have only a passing knowledge of the dances and want to brush up on them, buy a CD with the music to be played and have a family member teach you and your fiance the basics. Or sign up for a few lessons: Look online or in the Yellow Pages for the names of ethnic dance groups or instructors in your area. If you're totally unfamiliar with any dances but still want to include one or more in the reception, you will have to do a little research. Consult a book on wedding traditions or ask older relatives which ones they remember being performed at family weddings and celebrations.
