Justin Bieber Debuted His Song "10,000 Hours" During His and Hailey Bieber’s Wedding Reception
The singer asked country stars Dan + Shay—he appears on their track—to perform the hit live for the first time at the reception.
According to country music duo Dan + Shay, musical collaborator and newlywed Justin Bieber had quite the song request during his and Hailey Baldwin's wedding reception: The singer unexpectedly asked the pair, after they'd already taken the stage to serenade the crowd, to perform their song "10,000 Hours," Dan + Shay and Bieber's newest mutual hit.
"We sang 'Speechless' and then Justin jumped on stage," said Dan in an interview with Access Hollywood during the 2019 CMA Awards. "We were about to release our new single '10,000 Hours.' We had not ever performed it live. And he was like 'Yo, you guys gotta sing '10,000 Hours' and he's on the song with us and it was like, 'Uh, I don't wanna embarrass ourselves but we don't quite know the words. We've never sang it in front of anybody.' We hacked our way through it. It was cool."
Justin officially debuted the song—it speaks to his and Baldwin's relationship—after the wedding, which took place on September 30, 2019, after initially tying the knot in a New York courthouse the year prior. A source previously told People that Baldwin, "feels a civil ceremony and their 'real' wedding are two separate things." Additionally, "what happened at the courthouse is a courthouse thing—a legal thing. But marriage is two people making a vow before God and the people they love."
The celebrity couple held a formal, religious ceremony in front of friends and family in Bluffton, South Carolina. In a statement to Access Hollywood, Dan shared that the ceremony, "was one of the most beautifully decorated and designed weddings of all time."
