This Is Why We Never Hear Anything About Adam Brody and Leighton Meester's Marriage

It's easy to forget that Adam Brody and Leighton Meester are married—and have been for nearly five years. The reason? The duo (the actress, especially!) is notoriously private. In a recent interview with GQ, the former The O.C. actor opened up about why the public hears very little about their marriage—and why this, ultimately, works in their relationship's favor.

According to Brody, the decision to keep details of the couple's married life close to home originated with Meester. "She's more inherently private than I am," he explained, adding that he, on the other hand, is typically more forthcoming. "I don't seek publicity, but if I'm sitting next to you on the subway, I'll tell you everything about me."

The couple is also private for another—unintentional and extremely relatable—reason. "We're homebodies. We don't go to a lot of things that perhaps we could, and don't seek out promotion in that way," he says, though he doesn't criticize A-listers that do publicize their lives and love stories. "We've found this great balance so far that really works for us. We're also not very active on social media."

Today, Brody and Meester share a daughter, Arlo, who the actor calls the couple's "pride and joy." As for whether or not he finds it odd that the majority of the world still contextualizes him and his wife's relationship as a Blair Waldorf and Seth Cohen romance? "It's not bizarre," he shares. "To be perfectly honest, it was a little embarrassing [at first]. I guess love knows no bounds?"
