Still-Life Arrangement
![]() Dutch paintings depict masses of blooms captured in their peak moment of fullness. Inspired by that reverence for abundance, this large-scale table arrangement for the ceremony or reception features a flowering universe. Overflowing their antique pewter bowl are jewel-tone lilacs, tulips, peonies, ranunculuses, bleeding hearts, and coral bells, all luminous against a silk tablecloth. Reflective elements such as the magnifying glass abound in the paintings, as do other items symbolic of life and the natural order: old pocket watches, shells, fruits. Here, a butterfly specimen on a tree peony suggests the fleeting quality of both beauty and time. You might consider adding similar surprising details to your displays.
