Ruffles: Strapless

Airy Thai silk streams from the dropped waist of an effervescent gown by Justina McCaffrey. The strapless boned bodice is as disciplined as the skirt is riotous. A necklace of simulated pearls by Agatha is worn as a bracelet. The leather evening gloves are by Daniel Storto New York. The custom drawstring bag is trimmed in ruffled satin ribbon.

This ensemble itself is a marriage, of three pieces by two designers (below). It begins with a full-length ivory chiffon coat from Les Habitudes, with a wide neck and double cuffs ruffled along every edge. A silk-faille corset with a lace ruffle is layered on top, and a silk-faille skirt with pleated hem is slipped underneath; both by Maggie Norris. Art Deco diamond ring from James Robinson.

The bodice and hem of Reem Acra's strapless gown (below) are trimmed with ruffled chiffon. The mantilla veil is Belgian lace on English net, circa 1917, from Lynn Kiracofe. Bracelet of seed pearls and beads by Jose & Maria Barerra. Suede gloves by Daniel Storto New York. The fan is embellished with trimmings and feathers.
