Roses are one of Mother Nature's most extravagant creations. Whether whisper pale or sublimely saturated, their velveteen petals and sweet scent make them the consummate blossoms for a bridal bouquet. Indeed, for many brides, a bouquet would be incomplete without them.

But just because they are expected doesn't mean they can't be arranged in unexpected ways. "Many brides think roses are old-fashioned, but they don't have to be" says Matthew Robbins, a New York City floral designer.

To prove his point, Robbins has created eight glorious bouquets bursting with fresh ideas. And delicate though they may look, these bouquets hold up beautifully -- one more reason roses are a perennial favorite.
