Demanding your BFFs drop weight for your wedding? Not cute. Inviting them along for some group sweat sessions? Why not?

Shedding for the wedding—it's not just for brides. In a disturbing new trend, the more demanding members of the future wives club are requiring their crew of bridesmaids to get fit alongside them. Let's be clear: Your bridal party shouldn't be subject to mandated weigh-ins and regimented diets. Instead, suggest Tone It Up founders Karena Dawn and Katrina Scott, if you ditch the demands to shed pounds and focus on simply getting active, sweating with your squad can be kind of fun and it can help you stay on track to reach your own fitness goals. The California-based trainers share their best ideas for group fitness.

It Takes Two: Couple Workouts That Really Work

Make a workout date.

This is one of our favorite things to do with our girlfriends! Invite all of your bridesmaids for a yoga or spin class (hot yoga is our go-to!). Let the studio or instructor know you're a group of bridesmaids and you want to book bikes or mats together. You can even order matching tank tops or sports bras with cute sayings like "Bride Tribe," "Sweating for the Wedding," or "Squat for the Knot." Don't forget to take a group sweaty selfie after class! You can even make this a regular thing and try a different class each week.

Adopt "Sunday Run Day."

Sunday Run Day is the best with a flock of besties by your side. Ask your bridesmaids to join you for a jog on the beach or in a park or hike to a pretty view. This is the perfect way for your girls to get to know each other if they don't already. And if you're having a wedding planning session with your maid of honor or bridesmaids, why not make it into a workout, too? You can grab some coffee and go for a walk while you make wedding decisions.

Host a healthy bash.

After your workout class or jog, invite your girls over for a healthy brunch or fun daytime party. You can serve delicious (and healthy!) treats like healthy smoothie bowls or protein-packed pancakes, and fill up pitchers with "Blushing Bride" Rosé Mimosas! Just add a splash of grapefruit juice to sparkling rosé and add a few frozen raspberries to keep it cool and looking adorable.

Just dance!

If you're planning a night out with your tribe, make sure it turns into a dance party! Dance for an hour and you can burn about 300 calories. That's what we call a win-win.

Give the gift of health.

For bridesmaid gifts, consider giving your girls a gift card to their favorite workout studio or workout gear like a yoga mat or cute workout threads.

Commit to an eating challenge.

The ladies at Tone It Up designed a special program called the 7 Day Slim Down as part of their Nutrition Plan. It's a weeklong program we do right before a big event or photo shoot. It banishes bloat and makes you feel super, light, tight, and toned—while eating slimming pancakes, cookies, and burgers! It's perfect for you and your bridal party to do right before the wedding.
