Rory McIlroy's year just keeps getting better. Not only has the professional golfer been lighting up the PGA scene (and signing contracts for endorsement deals), he's also opening up about his April wedding to Erica Stoll, which turns out to have been the best experience of them all.
"It was obviously the best weekend of my life, and hopefully the best weekend of Erica's, as well," McIlroy said, according to the New York Post. "It was between our friends and families, and we didn't really want anything else." What a sweet way to describe the celebration, which was held at a pretty incredible venue, Ashford Castle, in Ireland.
While the wedding may have been intimate, it was also very much an A-list event. Celebrities, including Coldplay's Chris Martin and Ed Sheeran, were rumored to be in attendance, and Stevie Wonder even performed at the celebration. "We have people at the wedding who are 80 and people who are 20," the Irish golfer said of his and Stoll's decision about entertainment for the evening. "So we wanted something that everyone knew. We were like, 'Stevie Wonder? Perfect.' That was really cool."
With Wonder's repertoire of classics and romance-ready tunes, we're sure the singer put on an unforgettable performance fit for the best day ever. And now McIlroy admits his only trouble in life seems to revolve around his waistline. "Went on the honeymoon, got back on Thursday and have been trying to lose a bit of weight since then," he said during a press conference for next week's Players Championship. "Trying to shed a few pounds before coming here."
