Co-hosts of MSNBC's Morning Joe, Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, are officially engaged! This weekend, the cable news couple took a romantic getaway to the south of France and Monaco in honor of Brzezinski's 50th birthday. But that wasn't the only thing they celebrated while away. The two also got engaged at a scenic hotel in Antibes. "Joe got down on one knee and proposed old-fashioned-style with a ring," an inside source told Page Six. "Of course, Mika accepted. They came back from the trip on Cloud Nine."
Rumors started circulating that the pair were dating around the time of the 2016 presedential campaign, but they've managed to keep their relationship under the rader. In fact, it wasn't until last month that Scarborough hinted that they were an item during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. "We have a crackling on-air chemistry, and a crackling off-air chemistry, too," he said. Sounds like it was a bit of a giveaway to us.
Scarborough and his former wife separated in 2013 after 12 years of marriage, and a source reveals that his relationship with Brzezinski has made him more content. "He's had a rough few years with his divorce and the passing of his father, but he's been the happiest he's ever been these last few months with Mika." According to another source close to Brzezinksi, they were definitely on the same page about the engagement, and her birthday was the perfect time for a proposal. "Mika turned 50 and realized she wanted to move forward with her life and spend every minute with Joe, and not just at work."
As for what their special day will look like? Only time will tell. "There are no wedding plans as of yet, they are just telling their families the happy news," a source shared. We can't wait to see what their celebration looks like.
