Bill Clinton may be a former President of the United States, but now he wants to be the first-ever First Gentleman of the United States. During his speech at the Democratic National Convention, Clinton got personal, telling the crowd how he met the Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, and how they fell in love at Yale Law School.

"In the spring of 1971, I met a girl. The first time I saw her we were, appropriately enough, in a class on political and civil rights." Of meeting his future wife, Clinton remembered that she had "blonde hair, BIG glasses, wore no makeup and she exuded this sense of strength and self-possession that I found magnetic." He tried to talk to her but couldn't muster up the courage, so Hillary went up to him later that week in the law library and said, "Look, if you're going to keep staring at me, we at least ought to know each other's names."

Bill ran into her again a few days later: "She said she was going to register for classes for the next term. I said I would go too. We stood in line and talked … I thought I was doing pretty well until we got to the front of the line and the registrar looked up and said, 'Bill, what are you doing here? You registered this morning.'" Smooth, Bill!

Incredible Throwback Photos of Celeb Couples

Their first date involved a walk around campus, and four years later, the political power couple tied the knot in Arkansas. But it took Bill three tries to get the proposal right: "The third time [proposing] was the charm. I married my best friend. I was still in awe after more than four years of being around her of how strong and smart and loving and caring she was, and I really hoped that her choosing me and rejecting my advice to pursue her own career was a decision she would never regret," he told the cheering crowd. "Hillary is uniquely qualified to seize the opportunity. She is still the best darn change maker I have ever known."
