Spiced Simple Syrup

Use this syrup to make White-Wine Sangria. You can refrigerate leftover simple syrup in an airtight container up to one month.

  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 3/4 teaspoon whole cloves
  • 3 cardamom pods
  • 1/4 teaspoon coriander seeds


  1. Boil sugar and 1 1/2 cups water in a small saucepan, stirring occasionally, until sugar has dissolved. Add spices; simmer gently over medium heat 10 minutes. Remove from heat. Let cool completely; strain. Refrigerate airtight until ready to serve.
