Chive-Cream Cheese Canapes

This is a quick and tasty appetizer to serve at a wedding reception.

  • Yield: Makes 2 dozen

  • 8 ounces cream cheese, room temperature
  • 3 tablespoons finely chopped fresh chives, plus more snipped for garnish
  • 12 slices thin pumpernickel bread
  • 1 ounce sevruga caviar, for garnish


  1. In a small bowl, combine cream cheese and chopped chives until smooth. Transfer cream-cheese mixture to a pastry bag fitted with an Ateco#863 star tip.

  2. Using a 1 3/4-inch round cookie cutter, cut 2 rounds from each bread slice. Pipe mixture onto each; garnish with caviar and chives. Serve immediately.
