A Bachelorette Weekend Getaway in Palm Springs for Guest Blogger Jenny Bernheim of Margo and Me

For Jenny Bernheim of Margo & Me, a dream weekend getaway includes getting pampered and relaxing in Palm Springs with her girlfriends; so when it came time for her "last fling before the ring," that is exactly what the Los Angeles-based bride-to-be planned. Rather than checking into a hotel, she rented an estate called the Blue Door so the group would all be together and then brought the spa to them. The result? One pretty epic slumber party!

The Setting

Appropriately called the Blue Door for its big, colorful entrance, this midcentury modern gem of a house is situated in the heart of Palm Springs—and, thanks to the bikes that come with the property, just a short ride to Jenny's favorite coffee shop, Koffi, and other essentials.

The Décor

All seven girls (only one bridesmaid couldn't make it) bunked up in the rental home. "Each of the four rooms was exquisitely decorated and boasted a different theme," Jenny says. "The house has bold wallpaper and all of the quintessential interior décor of the era. My favorite was the green room with its almost life-size palm tree print hanging on the wall and complementary modern palm tree printed wallpaper."

Goodies for the Gals

The weekend was also the first time the bridesmaids saw (in person) the dresses they'd be wearing at the wedding—so Jenny wanted to make the presentation extra special. She found vintage-inspired silver hangers at Bhldn and worked with Cloud Hunter Co. to create custom garment bags embroidered with each gal's monogram that they could use to carry their dresses to the event in Paris.

A basket of goodies for the weekend, fresh blooms, and a personal note were set out next to the wedding-related gifts.

Swag Bags

Jenny also wanted to give each of the six ladies some Palm Springs-inspired treats. A Wanderlust + Co palm tree necklace and Cloud Hunter Co. banana leaf towel with pom-pom trim fit the bill. Also in the mix was a bachelorette-appropriate Cynthia Rowley flask bangle and a Pinch Provisions Minimergency Kit, stuffed with 21 tiny essentials that should come in handy for their trip to the wedding abroad. Finally, there were Crap Eyewear sunglasses, which one of Jenny's bridesmaids used for a party activity. The girls added little fabric hearts, bananas, cherries, and blueberries to personalize each pair.

A Warm Welcome

The first night, after gathering around the fire pit in the backyard to open gifts and sip rosé, the gals visited a new bar in town, Bootlegger Tiki.

Taking a Dip

Coincidentally, ever since she got a ring on her finger, Jenny has gravitated to wearing a lot of white—even when it comes to swimwear. She chose a Vitamin A suit, Cult Gaia head wrap, and Crap Eyewear sunnies and looked the part of a poolside bride-to-be that Saturday.

Jenny's friend Mariel surprised the crowd with Funboy inflatables in shapes like this Pegasus and a glazed doughnut.

The Most Important Meal

"Breakfast was a feast fit for a queen," Jenny says. She worked with a chef from Dash and a Handful to create all of the menus for the weekend, and this late-morning meal included organic scrambled eggs, sage sausage links, watermelon and feta salad, assorted breads with butter and house-made preserves, and granola with lemon-scented yogurt.

Fruity Flair

Manicurists from Essie Polish came by for the day, and the girls were treated to custom manicures and pedicures. The guest of honor opted for watermelons on top of her go-to summer getaway shade—Turquoise and Caicos. A few of the others took the fruity route, too—going for oranges and grapes.

The poolside pampering also included massages, thanks to a massage therapist who made a house call.

All Together Now

What's a bachelorette party without a group photo? Jenny was inside putting music on when the gals called her out and were lined up on the lawn and camera ready.

"The best part of the weekend was simply being surrounded by all of my girls," Jenny says. "As cheesy as it may sound, I feel truly blessed to have such supportive and loving friends who all love and support each other equally. Every time we're all together is the best time."

Fun and Games

After a day in the pool, the group whipped out Cards Against Humanity. "It's the most hilarious game to ever exist," Jenny says. Also on the agenda: Talking about being together in Paris for the wedding and Jenny asking her gals a lot of wedding-related questions.

Making Memories

On Saturday night the ladies ventured over to the Ace Hotel, where they spent some quality time playing Ping-Pong and posing in the photo booth located in the lobby. "We tried to fit everyone in at one time," Jenny recalls of the unsuccessful attempt at a group portrait. "Instead I requested a shot with each of the girls separately. I framed a montage of the strips and hung it in my office. It's one of my favorite things ever."
