  • Ice, for shaking
  • 2 ounces rye whiskey
  • 1/4 ounce absinthe or Pernod
  • 2 to 3 dashes Peychaud's bitters
  • 1/4 teaspoon sugar
  • Candied lemon peel


  1. Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice. Pour over whiskey, absinthe, bitters and sugar. Shake until ice-cold, about 10 seconds. Strain into a coupe glass and stir candied lemon peel into drink.
