Hayley and Gregg
Hayley Kaufman met Gregg Rudner and knew right away they would be together. Timing wasn't right and they were living on different coasts, but years later he serendipitously found her on Facebook and they began talking every day. When she moved to New York they went on their first date her second night in town. After five years of dating, on November 3, 2012, the Brooklyn-based duo tied the knot just a borough away, in Queens. The soiree was a night of rock 'n' roll romance with a bohemian and vintage-minded spirit.
High Fashions
Hayley and Gregg both sported custom suits by Amber Doyle at Against Nature. "We commissioned bespoke suits inspired by 70s-era 'it couple' Mick and Bianca Jagger to help carry over our theme."
Hayley's bouquet included red charm peonies, chocolate cosmos, Pieter B roses, ranunculus, Sally Holmes roses, and forsythia.
Well Suited
Hayley topped her ensemble with a custom rhinestone headpiece from Stone Fox Bride and an Elizabeth Cole necklace.
Fancy Footwear
For her seriously fierce head-to-toe ensemble, Hayley selected an edgy pair of Steve Madden pumps.
The Bridal Party
Hayley's maid-of-honor, best man, and bridesmaids were told to "wear whatever made them feel sexy" and were given autumnal blooms to unify them.
Long Island City Scenery
Pre-ceremony portraits were taken by 3 Photographers as the couple casually strolled the surrounding streets. Hayley took this as an opportunity to throw on a vintage fur jacket that she scored from her favorite eBay seller.
The Ceremony
The bridal party entered to a rendition of Joy Division's "Love Will Tear Us Apart", Gregg walked down the aisle to "This Charming Man" by The Smiths, and Hayley made her debut on the arms of her parents to the couple's "official" song, ""Postcards From Italy" By Beirut, performed by the Mixtape Cover Band.
The bride and groom were wed at the Metropolitan Building under a huppah of lush foliage and branches constructed by florist Amy Febinger of Bourgeon.
Accent Pieces
Mimicking the ceremony structure, a large arrangement of foliage adorned a table in the reception area.
A Little Snack
Beet-flavored popcorn crafted by the caterer was on hand for guests to munch on during cocktail hour.
Glowing and Glam
Candles lit the space in a cast of warm light, and floral centerpieces were loose and mismatched, including flowers like chocolate cosmos, astilbe, spray roses, and ranunculus.
Around the Room
Another arrangement, atop a mantelpiece, featured roses, ranunculus, kangaroo paw, nandina, astilbe, and ranunculus.
The Reception
Guests dined on cocktail party fare such as mini sliders, mushroom crostini, truffle grilled cheese, and steak, Mediterranean chicken, salmon, with salad, pasta, and locally focused side dishes.
Classic Rock Jams
The newlyweds danced to "Sway" by the Rolling Stones.
A Sweet Topper
A yellow cake with chocolate buttercream filling was enrobed in white icing (the bride and groom are complete "dessert purists" and love their confections kept classic) and finished with a few fresh flowers and a whimsical unicorn cake topper bought on Etsy. A unicorn appeared on the couple's invitation, which was strongly inspired by a Ouija board, so it came full circle with the cake.
Tasty Treats
Guests took home white and milk chocolate-covered pretzels at the end of the night.
