CaCee and Donald
CaCee Cobb, a brand marketing manager (and former assistant to Jessica Simpson), and Donald Faison, an actor best known for playing Zach Braff's BFF on Scrubs, first met at Braff's 30th birthday party. Seven years later, the relationship came full circle when the pair wed in the backyard of Braff, who plays Donald's best friend in real life, too. What followed was a "southern-meets-soul" affair complete with blue-grass music, comfort food galore, and even some wedding crashers. "I saw an older couple watching from a distance, and they said, 'we hope you don't mind—this brought back so many memories,'" says CaCee, who invited them to join the fun. "That was just what we wanted: a night for everyone to celebrate love."
Sweet Signage
Signs were set up around the property, with one letting guests know how many miles to the bride's and groom's hometowns (Marlin, Texas, and New York City, respectively).
Fashionable Ladies
CaCee, who carried a cloud of white peonies, wore a gown by Kenneth Pool. "I had wanted something simple I could wear with flats," she said. "But I fell in love with the most over-the-top poufy dress." Maid of honor Jessica Simpson held peonies, roses, and amaryllis that popped against her black Monique Lhuillier dress.
Stylish Guys
A Dolce & Gabbana–clad Zach Braff (left) and Prada–outfitted Joshua Radin served as Donald's groomsmen. The groom sported a Giorgio Armani tux.
Custom Signs
Wooden signs staked around the property directed guests to the festivities.
The Processional
"CaCee looked so beautiful coming down the aisle with her dad," says Donald. "I hadn't seen her dress yet so I had no idea what to expect."
The Music
A gospel choir sang "Life's a Happy Song," made famous by the Muppets, as Donald walked down the aisle, and Beyoncé's "Love on Top" as CaCee did.
Keeping With Tradition
The couple's 110 guests watched them "jump the broom, stomp the glass, and do every tradition we could find, because, why not?" says CaCee.
The Best Man
Longtime friend Braff embraced Donald after the vows.
Cocktail Hour
Five signature sippers were served, including a red-hot julep, garnished with a chili pepper.
Edible Escort Cards
CaCee knew that she could do without a wedding cake. "I didn't want to stop the dancing for a cake-cutting." But Donald had other ideas. "I love yellow birthday cake—it's the happiest cake you can eat!" So they compromised, filling canning jars with slices made from good ol' Betty Crocker mix to create escort cards–turned-favors. "We got more compliments on those than anything!" notes the bride.
An Inviting Tablescape
"I wanted a mismatched look, with rich colors," says CaCee of the vintage settings.
The menu had a similarly homey feel, with comfort foods like brisket, greens, and mac and cheese.
Rustic Table Numbers
Guests found their seats via burlap-wrapped wine bottles.
The First Dance
Groomsman Joshua Radin performed his song "They Bring Me to You" for the couple's first spin on the dance floor. "The whole wedding was so personal," says CaCee. "It fit us to a T."
Father-Daughter Dance
CaCee and her dad twirled to "In My Life" by the Beatles. "My mom cried the whole time we were dancing," says the bride.
Mama's Boy
The funnyman gave his mom a squeeze as they shared a dance.
The Guestbook
Revelers posed for Polaroids and jotted down their well wishes for the couple. "Donald was adamant that everyone take those photos before the party started and they got sweaty from dancing!" says CaCee.
Funny Face
CaCee and Donald hammed it up with props set out near the photo booth.
