Laura and Tim
Ten months after Tim popped the question to Laura in the middle of Grand Central Terminal, the pair wed on South Carolina's Kiawah Island Golf Resort, which--for the Manhattan couple--was a welcome escape from the bustle of the city. The island was a fitting choice for Laura and Tim, who had both vacationed there as kids. As they dreamed up their big day, the two brought in details from all chapters of their lives for a celebration that incorporated the best of the West Village with a dash of Southern comfort.
Lovely Lace
Laser-cut bands tied in the letterpressed invitations to the lilac, light blue, and blush-pink palette.
Goody Bags
The couple filled jute tote based with their favorite treats: ginger jam (made by the MOTB), chocolate-covered graham crackers from Murray's Cheese in NYC, local cheese biscuits, and water bottles with custom-printed labels.
The Fashions
Laura, who wore a Monique Lhuillier gown, and Tim, in a Brooks Brothers suit, paused for a peck.
Purple Pop
Lavender sprigs accented the groomsmen's suit jackets.
Island View
The Ocean Course at Kiawah Island set a gorgeous scene for the couple's I do's. (And, as movie buffs may recall, 2000's The Legend of Baggar Vance.)
Budding Marriage
The couple exchanged vows in front of a rose-trellis arch.
Please be Seated
Laura took a note from her day job (she works for a jewelry company) and calligraphed table numbers inside named-tagged velvet jewelry boxes.
Place Settings
Mini menu booklets, which doubled as place cards, listed the evening's meals, including Southern hits like local redfish with Charleston succotash and filet of beef with Carolina Gold rice.
Sitting Pretty
Wreaths of spray roses, ranunculus, and peonies adorned the couple's chairs.
Party Animals
Ceramic sheep grazed the resort's front lawn.
Retro Romance
The bride's mother gave a 1950s cake topper to the couple and each 'maid.
Away We Go
Laura and Tim rode off in a friend's 1929 Model A Ford decorated with calligraphed signage. "Tim's father has the same car, so it was a bit sentimental," Laura says.
