Anna and Sean
Although Anna and Sean's introduction at California State University in 2008 was high impact ("We were in the same marketing class, and from the moment I first laid eyes on him, I was crushin'!" says Anna), their subsequent dates went nowhere. "Still, every year, he'd email or connect via Facebook and ask to catch up over dinner. I declined at least four times," she adds. The Golden State natives finally clicked in October 2011 when the persistent suitor had Anna over for prosciutto tortellini. By January, they were engaged, and five months later said their I do's in the herb garden of the Ojai Valley Inn & Spa, a two-hour drive north from their Los Angeles home.
Citrus-Inspired Wedding Invitations
A watercolor print of lemons and peonies brightened the festively stamped invitations.
The Bouquet
Peonies, roses, lilies, and nearly neon craspedia comprised the posy.
Bright Boutonnieres
The guys' lapels were spiffed up with (from left) craspedia, a parrot tulip, and a dahlia.
Drinks Station
Before the ceremony, guests sipped citrus-cucumber water and watermelon lemonade.
Pre-Amble
Anna and Sean went for a stroll in the garden of their Ojai ceremony site.
Ceremony Seating
During the ceremony, guests were seated in vintage settees and upholstered chairs.
The "Altar"
The pair said "I do" in front of an antique fireplace arch decorated in flowers, vines, pillar candles, and personal photos.
Guests of Honor
Anna's sister, Angel, with her hubby and infant daughter, planned the day's beautiful event.
Memorable Menus
Guests unfurled scrolls of linen attached to porcelain faux twigs to read about the meal to come.
The Place Cards
Calligraphed paper lemon wedges, perched on the rims of glass goblets, served as place cards.
The Place Settings
Kumquats decorated the white china place settings.
Citrus Chandelier
A ring of oranges, lemons, and kumquats hung over the couple's pixie-tangerine cake.
The Cake
The two-tired confection was split: half pixie tangerine with cream cheese filling (an Ojai specialty) and the other, strawberry violet cake with vanilla bean filling.
The Favors
Guests were gifted a tote bag filled with the couple's favorite treats: lavender honey, Hampton Popcorn tins, Knead Baking Company cookies, and Zhena's Gypsy Tea.
