Jessica and Greg

Two things have been constants in Jessica and Greg's relationship: mountains and romance. The lovebirds first met their sophomore year at University of Denver. Five years later, on August 4, 2012, they tied the knot. Jessica, the owner of A Vintage Affair Events & Rentals in Denver, put her skills as a wedding stylist and planner to good use, in creating her dream day.
Lucky Luxe Couture Correspondence created the wedding invitation, which was printed onto a scallop-edged handkerchief. A double-sided response card featuring a horse at the wedding venue was also included in the suite.
With its grand view of the Rocky Mountains, Devil's Thumb Ranch was ideal the setting for their wedding weekend full of festivities like hiking, mountain biking, and spa time.
Jessica fell in love with the texture and rosettes on Lela Rose's "Secret Garden" gown. She showcased her style with pink Kate Spade pumps, a long Sara Gabriel veil, and delicate jewelry.
Greg sported a gray herringbone suit by Brooks Brothers, a David Donahue shirt, Allen Edmonds shoes, and silver knot cuff links from Tiffany & Co.
Several types of garden roses, along with peonies, ranunculus, hellebores, spray roses, and Veronica, made up Jessica’s posy by Cori Cook.
A personalized ribbon reading "Let's grow old together" was wrapped around the stems of the bride’s bouquet. It echoed the engraved sentiment on Greg’s wedding ring: "Grow old with me." Jessica also selected sayings for the ribbons on each of her bridesmaids' bouquets.
When he arrived at the ranch, Greg gave Jessica a vintage locket to hold wedding photos from their celebration.
In the bridal suite, she set up a perfume bar, with fragrant spritzing options for the girls. "I figured they might forget to bring perfume with them so I thought it would be lovely if I brought a bunch of my own for them to choose from. Every girl wants to smell pretty," Jessica said.
A small burlap basket was filled with rose petals for the bride's young cousin to scatter down the aisle.
In keeping with a white-on-kraft scheme for the day-of stationery, the service was printed onto fans designed by Teal Typewriter -- pulling double duty by keeping guests both informed and cool.
Greg made wood signs which were then calligraphed by Pink Ink Paper. One at the ceremony read "They could not remember a time until now, that forever did not seem long enough."
After Jessica was escorted down the aisle by her brother, she and Greg placed love letters to each other in a custom wooden box. A bottle of the same Champagne they drank on the day they got engaged was already inside. They plan to open the box on their first anniversary, and each year thereafter, to read the previous year’s letter and enjoy the bubbly. They will put a new letter and a new bottle in annually.
His-and-hers cocktails included a "Colorado Julep" made with Maker's Mark, muddled mint, and lemonade; and a "Blushing Bride," of Kettle One vodka, pink lemonade, and a lemon wedge.
Another calligraphed board quoted Dr. Seuss: "When you are in love you can't fall asleep because reality is better than your dreams."
Photographer Laura Murray snapped shots of the couple after their ceremony and at sunset on another area of the property.
Jessica painted table numbers onto Ikea bottles and filled them with pink lemonade.
A thank you note was tucked into each napkin and tied with a "better together" ribbon.
A collection of postcards pictured places special to the couple: Colorado (where they live and where Greg is from), California (the bride's home state), and the Mediterranean (their honeymoon destination). In lieu of a guestbook, well-wishers wrote their sentiments on the cards. Note by note, the maid of honor will mail them to the couple throughout their first year of marriage.
A buffet featured five cakes baked by Intricate Icings. "I knew I wouldn't be able to pick just one design," Jessica said. Vintage shutters adorned with garden roses proved a pretty backdrop.
The other cakes included a two-tiered coconut confection with pineapple filling and cream cheese frosting that had "stitched" details (as a nod to the groom's mother who sewed various items for the wedding); a two-tiered chocolate cake with chocolate mousse decorated to mimic the rosettes on the wedding gown; a tall exposed ombre cake; and this vanilla cake with raspberry and blackberry filling and decorated with sugary hearts in a pink to white gradient.
