Fringed Favor

Martha Stewart Weddings, Spring 2012

Tools and Materials

Tissue paper in various colors
Standard scissors
Fringe scissors
Gold mylar paper
2 1/2-by-2 1/4-inch plastic hexagonal boxes
Clear tape
Double-sided tape
2-inch-round gold stickers
Nylon twine

  1. Fold a sheet of tissue in half, short end to short end. Cut along the crease. Lay the two pieces together, and fold them both in half, long end to long end. Use the fringe scissors to frill the loose edge 2 inches deep. Cut a 3-inch strip of mylar, and fringe one of the long edges 2 inches deep. Cut the fringed mylar into 3/4-inch-wide strips, and tape them 3 inches apart along the fringed side of the tissue.
  2. Roll up a candy-filled box in the tissue, leaving 3/4 inches of overhang on the non-fringed side. Fold in the bottom edge and adhere with clear tape; cover with a sticker.
  3. Cut 3/4-by-8 1/2-inch strips of mylar, and wrap them around the bottom of box; attach with double-sided tape. Cinch the top with neon twine, and, if you want, add a tag.
