And so when they decided to make it official, the Lone Star State was a no-brainer. So was a rock 'n' roll-inspired wedding -– since the pair had met at a concert Matt's band played back in 2009. The resulting affair celebrated the desert landscape and fit their personalities like a pair of broken-in cowboy boots. 01 of 20 The Location Q Weddings The couple chose Three Points Ranch for their September 30, 2011, nuptials. The site boasts a barn, stuffed and mounted animals, Airstream trailers, and a pavilion, and is decorated with European antiques, Mexican blankets, and rustic farming relics throughout. 02 of 20 The Stationery Q Weddings Artist Norman Orr's hand-lettering and illustration on the stationery suite was influenced by Native American elements, hints of Texas, and rock music. Another cool element: the invitation was printed large-format, just like a concert poster. 03 of 20 The Groom Q Weddings Matt wore a slim-fit Italian white-linen suit from Collier. A white button-down from Fred Segal, brown suede shoes, a skinny cotton tie, and a vintage tie clip with a chain finished off his look. A succulent-and-feather boutonniere, tied with a leather cord, adorned his lapel. 04 of 20 The Guys Q Weddings The groomsmen wore vintage-wash Levi's 501 jeans, pale blue button-down shirts, and suspenders. Reversible bow ties (chambray on one side, ivory with red polka dots on the other) were made by the mother of the groom. 05 of 20 The Gals Q Weddings The bride's five 'maids wore strapless Champagne-colored silk dresses from Rebecca Taylor. Their pale shade and wispy silhouette appealed to Sorenne's love of '70s fashion. To show her friends her appreciation, she gave them Hazel Cox earrings to wear on the big day. 06 of 20 The Bride Q Weddings Sorenne glowed in a custom Momo Soho gown of faintly tie-dyed silk satin and a pink crinoline. She accessorized it with a Hazel Cox necklace, feather headpiece, and a vintage mesh purse from Feathers. 07 of 20 The Shoes Q Weddings Loeffler Randall satin-and-mesh booties were Sorenne's footwear of choice. "They looked very Cyndi Lauper-meets-the-1800s," she says. 08 of 20 The Flowers Q Weddings Crimson Horticultural Rarities created the bride's bouquet of roses, craspedia, and succulents. 09 of 20 The Portraits Q Weddings Sorenne and Matt posed for photographer Suzi Q. Varin before and after the ceremony to capture the setting sun. 10 of 20 The Ceremony Q Weddings Their twilight service, held in an open field surrounded by pecan, oak, and cedar trees, was officiated by a friend. Sorenne and Matt penned their own vows and had a friend read an excerpt from the play "Chelsea Walls." Another pal played the fiddle. 11 of 20 Puppy Love Q Weddings The couple's pup, Rambeau, donned a bow tie for the occasion. 12 of 20 Aisle Celebration Q Weddings Instead of clapping or tossing confetti, guests were asked to fire off toy guns when the newlyweds kissed and as they walked up the aisle. 13 of 20 Cocktail Hour Q Weddings The signature cocktail, a Peppermint Palmer, was the idea of Matt's friend Austin, who manages the bar Ria Rita, in Austin. The lemonade-and-vodka drink was mixed by the groom the night before. 14 of 20 The Favors Q Weddings Matchboxes printed with hearts, arrows, and the couple's initials were set out in large jars. 15 of 20 The Escort Cards Q Weddings The concert ticket-inspired escort cards were printed on cardboard and clipped to twine. 16 of 20 The Reception Q Weddings Baker's twine, strung with a charm, was tied around each hemstitched napkin. Anchors, captain's wheels, guitars, and hearts with wings were selected for their symbolism to the couple. Southern's Fine Dining gave traditional barbecue an upscale twist. Roasted vegetables, tangy citrus cole slaw, tomato soup shooters, corn bread, jalapeno mac and cheese, and salad were served. 17 of 20 The Decor Q Weddings Wine bottles, doubling as table numbers, were placed among flower-filled glass vases and candlelit Mason jars. Antlers, crystals, and lace doilies were incorporated into the decor, too. 18 of 20 The First Dance Q Weddings Sorenne and Matt swayed to "Cool Water" by Isobel Campbell. 19 of 20 The Sweets Q Weddings Photography A dessert bar created by the couple's friend Dawn Paulson featured macarons and Texas pecan pies, one of which the couple cut into instead of a traditional cake. 20 of 20 Sources Q Weddings Photography: Q Weddings Photography Location: Three Points Ranch Event Planning: BZ Events Flowers and Event Design: Crimson Horticultural Rarities Catering: Southern's Fine Dining; BBQ Bill (512) 422-7439 Stationery: Norman Orr Music: Lost Soul Revue Rentals: Outback Party Rentals Hair and Makeup: Jesse Vain and Jene Marony of Topaz Salon Bride's and Groom's Wedding Bands: Twist Was this page helpful?
