"I wanted to offer romantic, colorful, vintage-inspired rings that would imbue all the emotion and symbolism that an engagement ring holds," Pettibone exclusively tells Martha Stewart Weddings. "I loved thinking of the wedding band and the engagement ring as a set [and] the idea of bringing back the tradition of a band and engagement ring that are designed to enhance each other."
Much like Pettibone's super-feminine wedding dresses, the pieces will feature pops of rich color, delicate sparkle, and floral motifs set in heirloom-inspired white, yellow, and rose gold settings. The engagement rings are designed to pair perfectly with accompanying bands that either mimic their motifs, or cradle their sparkling center-stones.
As for a favorite piece, it was hard for Pettibone to pick just one (and after seeing the pieces, we understand why!). "Celine was inspired by a gorgeous French embroidery in my archives, I love it paired with the lyrical vine Chantal wedding band that's curved to perfectly nestle the ring's center stone…The Celestine ring was inspired by my Gothic Angel bridal collection, it's one of the more non-traditional looks, which I love, and the Beau Monde trio features center stones of either aquamarine, diamond or sapphire. I'm having a hard time choosing which color, although that 2-carat diamond center is pretty spectacular!"
Each unique piece could suit a wide range of brides, from the "timeless classic" to the "utterly feminine" to the "artistic bohemian" and Pettibone is hoping whichever cut, setting, and stone her brides opt for feels a touch unexpected while also speaking to their individual style.
To make the line even more special, each ring will come packaged in a gold-leafed velvet box paired with a heartfelt note from Pettibone herself: "The story of a marriage begins with this ring. May it become her most treasured heirloom, for the history that you share, the love that it inspires, and for the many chapters that you will write together."
