Music and fashion go hand in hand. There's David Bowie and Iman. Seal and Heidi Klum. And now Jesse, a drummer, and Lawren, a celebrity stylist, who made it official in the California sunshine.

Lawren, who is originally from Mississippi, and Jesse, a California native, wanted guests to be relaxed and comfortable -- and above all, to have a blast. "Our No. 1 goal was that nobody would look at their watch the entire time," says Jesse.

Jesse, in Jacob Kozinn, holds tight to his new bride (and she to him) as they wind their way down Willow Creek Farm's stone path.

The bride's bouquet of roses, peonies, and trailing sweetpeas is lush and untamed; "I wanted it to look like I'd picked the flowers myself," she says.

The groom's bandmate Will Etling designed the folk-art-inspired paper details. The invitation suite "really set the tone," says Jesse. "Before the wedding, at least 10 people mentioned how cool they were." An activities packet (top right) kept the theme alive on the big day.

Bridesmaids, wearing vintage dresses in rainbow sherbet hues, surrounded the bride who chose a strapless French-lace Monique Lhuillier gown for herself. "I'm always dressing other people up, so I was really excited to put on something fancy," she says.

The couple decided to wed on Willow Creek Farm in Paso Robles, California, a bucolic plot of land right next door to Jesse's childhood home. And their chosen picnic theme (with a heavy dose of Southern flair to celebrate Lawren's roots) became as collaborative as a barn raising.

Old family photos posted to trees added to the homespun decor.

Jesse's niece and Lawren's nephew carried baskets of daisy petals down the aisle.

Guests traded in tickets for hayrides around the property.

The just-hitched couple and some of their guests pile onto the flatbed of a trailer filled with bales of hay, decorated with lace and handcrafted flags.

"Mad Men" star Christina Hendricks, a friend of Lawren's, embraced the picnicky dress code with a Ralph Lauren suit jacket and a prairie skirt.

A handmade wooden sign denoted an area where partygoers could play played old-fashioned games.

The groom rang a heart-shaped dinner bell.

Guests found their seats with the help of this display, written on glass-paned doors.

Home-style foods, including fried pickles, mini root-beer floats, and bite-size chicken and waffles, filled the buffet.

Slices of tree trunks, set in homemade sod boxes, prop up peonies and roses in glass bottles.

Guests loaded mismatched plates with comfort food at the reception.

The bride joined some friends in a trip to the photo booth provided by Snap Cubby Photo Booth Rentals.

Cheerful birds that the bride found at a crafts store perch atop the intentionally homemade-looking cake.

Fresh pies were displayed in vintage refrigerators.

An array of bite-size sweets finished the dessert course.
