Kathryn and Jeff exchanged vows on a sunny April afternoon in 2010. Their Calistoga, California, nuptials fused natural elements with modern details.
Kathryn and Jeff found inspiration in home design magazines and in product lines such as Jonathan Adler and John Robshaw. Incorporating their graphic sensibility, Olive-Route designed a modern invitation sewn to a card with an embossed herringbone pattern.
Calligraphy by Nancy Hopkins was letterpressed on the invitation suite. Hopkins also hand-calligraphed the envelopes.
Kathryn wore a Jenny Packham dress, from Nouvelle Vogue in San Mateo, California. She accessorized with Kate Spade shoes, a vintage hairpin, and her maternal grandmother's antique watch.
Jeff wore a custom suit from Zuckerman & Associates.
Here, the couple enjoy the sunshine and surroundings of their wedding location, Solage Calistoga Resort, in the north end of the Napa Valley. Kathryn and Jeff spent memorable weekends and vacations in the wine country and thought it would be the perfect place to start their marriage.
The ceremony began at 6 o'clock, after Kathryn and Jeff signed their ketubah, which was made by Jennifer Raichman. Kathryn was escorted down the aisle by her father.
B & N Photography photographed the couple using the backdrops of the property's grapevines, fields, and dramatic pool.
Alison Events designed and planned the wedding, working closely with Kathryn and Jeff to bring their vision to life.
Refraction, the lighting designers, fabricated an installation of white manzanita branches and twinkle lights, which hung over the dance floor and anchored the room.
For the reception, a mix of square and rectangular tables were covered with custom runners designed by Jenny Pennywood. Draped over slate-gray linens, the printed canvas runners brought a splash of yellow to the bright white room. Floral arrangements of white and yellow blooms in Heath Ceramics vessels dotted the tables.
Guests dined on a salad with capers, confit tomatoes, Parmigiano Reggiano, and balsamic-sherry vinaigrette; seared Sonoma coast halibut with lemon-herb vinaigrette; Painted Hills Farms beef short ribs with red-wine jus; Blue Lake green beans; and whipped Yukon gold potatoes -- all prepared by Solage Calistoga Resort.
Inspired by the lattice print of the table runners, Sara Lime created a four-tier wedding cake with alternating tiers of white cake with fresh strawberries and chocolate cake with coriander ganache. It was covered in white-chocolate buttercream and garnished with a trio of sugar flowers.
