Nicole and Wolfgang -- a pair of entrepreneurs with a penchant for travel -- celebrated the natural beauty of the Napa Valley when they wed at a friend's estate in June 2010. After three years together, they knew they wanted a wedding that blended modern elegance with a rustic barn setting. The black-tie nuptials showcased local food and wine as well as the stunning California countryside.

Nicole wears an Amy Kuschel dress and Stuart Weitzman shoes. For jewelry, she chose her great-grandmother's engagement ring and a stack of diamond rings (a wedding gift from Wolfgang); new diamond drop earrings finish off the ensemble. Wolfgang wears a tuxedo from Ralph Lauren paired with a black paisley tie.

Lavender bushes and vines surround the couple, and the Mayacamas Mountains set the scene. The 140 guests enjoy sweeping views of the Napa Valley at the late-afternoon ceremony.

A friend led the ceremony, during which Nicole and Wolfgang exchanged vows they wrote.

Nicole borrowed the veil worn by her best friend from college, later swapping it for fresh orchids.

Sharla Flock Designs created the florals for the day, including the bride's bouquet of eggplant calla lilies, fringed tulips, green hypericum berries, and dusty miller leaves.

Wolfgang's daughter, Sophia, serves as a bridesmaid, wearing a fig-colored dress by Priscilla of Boston and carrying a small bouquet of white dendrobium orchids, calla lilies, hypericum berries, and dusty miller.

Inspired by the wooden barn, existing fixtures, and natural surroundings, Alison Events designed the entire event with the estate in mind. For the escort cards, they lined an old wooden box with burlap, filled it with lavender, and placed the cards inside.

Guests enter the barn after enjoying cocktails. Farm tables from Zephyr Tents, French slotted chairs from Classic Party Rentals, and plum linen runners create a warm atmosphere. Custom lighting and subtle floral arrangements add extra charm.

Seating alternates between rows of chairs and soft banquettes with pillows.

Assorted arrangements of eggplant calla lilies, purple tulips, antique green hydrangeas, dusty miller, geraniums, hypericum berries, and Hawaiian dendrobium orchids spread down the table, interspersed with candles in a variety of sizes.

One of Wolfgang's hobbies is cooking, so it was important to serve a great meal. The girl & the fig catered the dinner, which included a summer salad of local greens, corn, and tomatoes; halibut; and duck confit, and a curated wine list to match. A cheese course and dessert bar followed.

Hay bales covered in linens and topped with pillows surround coffee tables made of wine barrels. A similar setup outside the barn offers guests a casual place to enjoy the evening.

Nicole and Wolf take to the dance floor to Led Zeppelin's "Kashmir." They perform an Argentine tango, a nod to their prewedding trip to Argentina.

The dessert bar offers many mini treats: chocolate and lavender pots de creme, ricotta cheesecake, lemon meringue tarts, local strawberries, and a bowl of Valrhona chocolate (fitting, since the couple has visited the factory in France).
