When musician Ray Jahnke met his now-wife, Jennifer Hoverson, he was on crutches, and it seemed as if fate had given him an auspicious head start. "The first thing she did was offer me her chair," he remembers. "I was so touched." The attraction was instant. "Within a month, we both knew it was the real thing," Jennifer says. Two years later, the couple bought a home in Costa Mesa, California. That same month, they flew to New York City for a birthday party, where Ray spontaneously proposed with a knotted bar straw (her real ring came later).
Jennifer, who with her sister Joelle is co-owner of the Manhattan knitting store Purl; its sister fabric shop, Purl Patchwork; and the website, purlsoho.com, carries a bouquet of hydrangeas and orchids.
Pinned to a linen board, each escort card features fabric that matches the napkins at that guest's table.
A menu tucked into a napkin and a place card held down by a glass magnet with the guest's first initial decorate each plate.
The cake, boasting fondant polka dots, sits on a tablecloth from Spoonflower.com, a create-your-own-fabric website.
