Three years before Mason popped the question, he told his father he was interested in Anna, a longtime family friend. When his father relayed the news to Anna, a photographer in New York, she was intrigued but concerned that Mason was nine years younger. His dad said, "I thought you were smarter than that -- you know love has nothing to do with age!" she recalls.
Glittering cupcakes -- carrot cake with cream cheese frosting, white cake with lemon Swiss-meringue buttercream, all toppped with edible gold dust and leaf -- are served in lieu of a cake.
Two cocktails honored the heritages of bride and groom -- Pimm's Cup, a British favorite, and Tennessee Tea, which Sharon created using Jack Daniels, Triple Sec, Coke, sweet-and-sour mix, and lemonade.
Favors consisted of bright silk bags made by Indian women who work for the Shanthimalai Handicrafts Development Society, a charity Anna supports; each holds a candle and a jar of jam.
