The Washington, D.C., residents, who met through a friend at the aptly named Lucky Strike bowling alley back in 2005, wanted their day to feel intimate above all else. A destination wedding fit the bill, but since such events can be pricey to throw and attend, Abby and Jamey decided to head down to Mexico for its relatively close proximity and affordable luxury.
Here, the groom, in Calvin Klein, and his bride, in Monique Lhuillier. His tie (and her dyed Stuart Weitzman shoes) echoed the day's white-and-green palette.
With the ocean as a breathtaking backdrop, attendees witnessed Abby and Jamey's exchange of lighthearted, self-penned vows in the garden of a Pacific-front home. During the recessional, well-wishers showered the jubilant newlyweds with birdseed, rose petals, and tuberose blossoms, which they had gathered into hand-painted ceramic bowls at the "toss table" upon arrival. Here, the couple seal their vows with a smooch. The words "Jamey," "Abby," and "I do, I do, I do" were sewn onto the aisle runner.
After the ceremony, everyone lounged around the pool, drinking flavored mojitos and tequila from carved-cucumber shot glasses. Then a 10-piece mariachi band, decked out in gold-studded, white charro regalia, strolled in playing their hearts out. "It was so dramatic, and such a surprise for everyone," says Abby.
