Instead of pastries, we affixed chocolate truffles -- rolled in assorted cocoa powders from the United States, France, and Holland -- to the outside of a yellow butter cake filled and frosted with a dense, dark ganache.

    Pastry Box Cake

    This cake was modeled on Fauchon's monogrammed pink pastry boxes, or boites roses. To mimic the color of the boxes, we used tinted white chocolate, and the cake itself is vanilla sponge with strawberry syrup and mousse. To complete the illusion, almond macaroons in raspberry, chocolate, pistachio, and passion fruit are piled on and around the tiers.

    Surrender yourself to sugar: Miniature chocolate and vanilla cupcakes line the white-fondant tiers of this playful cake. Brown- and pink-hued paper flags bearing the newlyweds' names wave from the cupcake perched on top.
